Because rehoming deserves more than a listing

Finding a new home for a dog is an important decision. Yet informal online listings and social media posts can leave people navigating the process without adequate information, structure or safeguards.

HomeWagger is being developed as a welfare-first alternative, helping people approach rehoming thoughtfully, consider suitability carefully and put each dog’s long-term wellbeing at the centre.

Not a marketplace for buying and selling dogs. A more responsible way to find the right home.

Support first. Rehome only when necessary.

We recognise that decisions about rehoming are not always straightforward.

Housing difficulties, financial hardship, health challenges, domestic abuse and other unexpected circumstances can place enormous pressure on people and their relationships with their dogs.

Sometimes appropriate support can help prevent an unwanted separation. Where remaining together is safe and realistic, we believe those possibilities deserve consideration before rehoming.

HomeWagger is designed to provide practical digital guidance and signposting to relevant resources. It does not replace specialist services or provide emergency casework.

When rehoming genuinely is the most appropriate outcome, the process should be compassionate, responsible and centred on the dog’s welfare.

Supporting people and protecting dogs should go hand in hand.

Designed for more responsible rehoming

HomeWagger is being developed with animal welfare, transparency and responsible pet advertising principles in mind.

Informed by safer pet advertising principles

Our approach draws on principles promoted by the Pet Advertising Advisory Group (PAAG), with an emphasis on appropriate information, responsible advertising and reducing avoidable risks.

This does not imply PAAG approval, accreditation or endorsement.

What makes HomeWagger different?

  • Welfare-first approach — prioritising dogs’ wellbeing and long-term suitability over speed or convenience.
  • Structured Expressions of Interest — helping potential adopters provide relevant information before progressing.
  • More informed decisions — supporting careful consideration of a dog’s individual needs and circumstances.
  • Thoughtful communication — creating a structured process for adopters and people arranging rehoming.
  • Compassion without judgement — recognising that people may need to rehome their dogs for difficult and deeply personal reasons.
  • No selling or bidding — putting suitability and long-term welfare ahead of financial transactions.

These features form part of the app’s planned rehoming experience and may evolve as development continues.

Part of The People & Animal Welfare Project

HomeWagger is part of a bigger purpose

HomeWagger is the dedicated dog-rehoming app within PAWP — The People & Animal Welfare Project.

PAWP is a UK social enterprise working to improve outcomes for people and companion animals through welfare-focused initiatives, professional collaboration, practical guidance and digital technology.

Alongside HomeWagger, our work includes PAWP Connect, an evidence-informed professional practice platform designed to help frontline organisations recognise when companion animals matter and embed more consistent pet-inclusive practice.

Although they serve different audiences, HomeWagger and PAWP Connect share a commitment to recognising the human-animal bond, preventing unnecessary separation where possible and promoting responsible welfare decisions.

For people, for pets, for purpose.

A note from the founder

HomeWagger began with my belief that dogs deserve a safer, more thoughtful approach to rehoming.

As I explored the reasons people sometimes have to give up much-loved companions, I realised there was an opportunity to do more — not only to improve rehoming, but also to help prevent unnecessary separation.

That wider purpose led to the development of PAWP — The People & Animal Welfare Project.

HomeWagger remains an important part of that vision, and I’m looking forward to sharing its development with you.

Thank you for supporting HomeWagger at this early stage.

Better rehoming starts with better choices

Every dog deserves to be treated as an individual, with their welfare and long-term wellbeing at the heart of rehoming decisions.

HomeWagger is being developed to help make those decisions more informed, compassionate and responsible.

Thank you for being part of HomeWagger's journey.

These FAQs explain how HomeWagger supports ethical dog rehoming in the UK, how we differ from marketplace-style sites, and what to expect from the 2026 launch.

What is HomeWagger?

HomeWagger is a welfare-first platform being built to support ethical dog rehoming in the UK.
It’s designed to help adopters, rehomers, shelters, and professionals navigate rehoming safely, transparently, and without pressure.
This isn’t a marketplace — it’s a system built around dog welfare and responsible decision-making.

Is HomeWagger a rescue or shelter?

No. HomeWagger is not a rescue or shelter.
We aim to complement existing shelters and rescues, not replace them — particularly by supporting safer outcomes when dogs are rehomed privately or when rescues are at capacity.

Does HomeWagger encourage people to rehome their dogs?

No.
HomeWagger does not encourage rehoming.
We exist to support safe, responsible decisions when rehoming becomes necessary due to changing life circumstances — and to reduce harm caused by rushed, hidden, or unsafe rehoming.

Is HomeWagger about buying or selling dogs?

No. Never.
Dogs will never be sold through HomeWagger.
Any future platform features will be built around welfare, suitability, and transparency — not transactions.

Who is the waitlist for?

The HomeWagger waitlist is for:
People trying to adopt a dog in the UK
People considering rehoming a dog responsibly
Shelters, rescues, and foster networks
Vets, trainers, and behaviourists
Anyone who supports ethical, welfare-led dog rehoming
Joining the waitlist doesn’t commit you to anything.

When will HomeWagger launch?

We’re planning to launch in 2026, starting with the web platform and expanding to iOS and Android shortly after.
We’re building carefully — because dog welfare deserves time and thought.

I’m feeling overwhelmed — should I still join the waitlist?

Yes, if it feels helpful.
Joining the waitlist doesn’t mean you need to take action now.

How is HomeWagger different from Facebook rehoming groups?

Many Facebook rehoming groups are well-intentioned but lack consistent safeguards.
HomeWagger is being designed with:
Welfare-first principles
Transparency about needs and expectations
Safer matching and oversight
Protection for both dogs and people

Will HomeWagger lower adoption standards?

No.
HomeWagger supports appropriate, proportionate safeguards based on the individual dog — not one-size-fits-all rules.
Good matches protect dogs better than rigid criteria.

Will you share my information?

No.
Your details will never be sold or shared.
We’ll only contact you about HomeWagger, and you can unsubscribe at any time.
